Superfast Steel Epoxy Putty Stick is a steel-filled epoxy repair putty in an easy-to-use stick format used to make fast-setting pipe repairs to steel, iron and other ferrous metal.
The most common use for Superfast Steel is in pipe repair. It seals cracks and holes in steel, iron and other metal pipes in both domestic and industrial settings and fills in small areas of damage caused by pitting and corrosion, restoring surface profile. Superfast Steel Epoxy Putty has WRAS approval, which means it is safe to use with drinking water.
Aside from pipe repair, Superfast Steel fills holes in metal machinery and bonds metals and other materials together. It is resistant to water, chemicals and temperature extremes and is quick working – within one hour of the application of Superfast Steel, systems can be put back into full use. How to repair steel, iron and metal using a Superfast Steel Epoxy Putty Stick
Superfast Steel comes in a pre-formatted 114g stick which is 22mm diameter x 175mm long. To use, you simply cut off the required amount of putty from the stick and knead it by hand.
Whilst soft, the putty is pushed into holes and cracks in pipes and metalwork where it will cure, sealing holes and filling areas of damage. For bonding, you apply the putty and use it to attach the pieces requiring repair together.
Superfast Steel has a work life of approximately 3 minutes and within 5-10 minutes, it will harden and form a cohesive bond. A full repair is completed in one hour. Once cured, it can be tapped, drilled, screwed, sawed, machined, ground, filed, or painted.
Superfast Steel contains no solvents or VOC’s, it is non-flammable and releases no noxious fumes. It will not shrink or pull away and the unused portion of Steel Stick stays fresh for future use when saved in its original package.
Pipe repairs made with Superfast Steel Stick can be overwrapped with SylWrap Bandage for a fast, permanent, high-pressure repair. Superfast Steel and SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage can be purchased together as part of the Standard Pipe Repair Kit which enables the user to permanently fix a leaking metal pipe.

To carry out larger, more complex repairs which require a greater amount of putty than that supplied by Superfast Steel, Sylmasta recommend Sylmasta AB Original Epoxy Putty. AB Original can be purchased in bulk quantities and has a two hour work time, giving users longer to complete complicated applications and enabling more putty to be mixed at once, minimising waste.
