Sylmasta R-63 is for high strength retaining of cylindrical and close fitting parts, such as bearings, gears, splines, pulleys, keyways, set screws suitable for press fits or slip fits.

R-63 will add strength to interference fits and will retain slip fitted parts. Applied to splines it will lock and add strength.

The leading edges of the parts to be fitted should be chamfered to help R-63 spread through the joint and not be pushed out.

R-38 Dynamic Retainer is a high viscosity, high strength retainer for bonding cylindrical fitting parts with bond gaps up to 0.25mm, such as locking bushes and sleeves into housings and on shafts..

R-38 will add strength to slip fitted parts. Applied to splines it will lock and add strength."

Sylmasta Bearing Fit R-41
Equivalent to Loctite 641 Bearing Fit
Sylmasta B-41 is for medium strength retaining of cylindrical parts such as bearings.

B-41 is for use on parts that may need to be disassembled such as bearings, splines, bushes, shafts and oil seals etc.

B-41 will give added strength to slip fitted and interference fitted parts. The thick viscosity will help lubricate the parts during assembly.

Thixotropic, stays in place.

Handling strength is achieved in 10-30 minutes. Functional strength is achieved in 45 minutes. Ultimate strength is achieved in 3 hours.

Sylmasta High Temperature Retainer R-48
Equivalent to Loctite 648 Retainer
R-48 is recommended for High Strength securing where continuous working temperature is rated up to 180°C.

R-48 is a medium viscosity retainer of high strength dealing with gaps of 0.15 mm.

R-48 is used for securing all types of cylindrical parts, such as bearings, gears, splines, pulleys, keyways, set screws suitable for press fits or slip fits. R-48 reduces fatigue life by eliminating stresses in the assembly.

Superfast Retaining Adhesives

These adhesives will retain all cylindrical assemblies subject to radial and axial forces. Using them permits parts to be slip-fitted together instead of being press-fitted. Since this eliminates a major cause of stress concentrations, lighter parts with a thinner wall thickness can be used. Tolerances can also be eased, thus reducing machining time and costs, and assembly time is faster.

Sylmasta Superfast Retaining Adhesives can also be used to strengthen existing press fits. (Push-out force, for example, was increased from 6,000 lb to more than 25,000 lb when a Sylmasta retaining adhesive was used on liners in truck cylinder blocks.) Their ability to provide a 100% surface contact which can result in a unitized assembly four times stronger than a press fit, means that they can augment the torques transmission of keys, tapers, pins, splines and driving screws.

The advantages of using Sylmasta Superfast products to retain can be summed up as lower manufacturing costs and increased reliability. Assembly stresses (which subsequently reduce fatigue life) caused by press fitting can be eliminated. Stronger, more consistent assemblies are produced, and parts are protected from fretting corrosion during service.
